Design Kutztown University Residency Project 30-Mar-2009
The Sharadin Art Gallery at Kutztown University of Pennsylvania requests proposals from artists, craftspersons, and designers for the production of an original, temporary, site-specific installation for the gallery's exhibition space.

Art - Fine Arts - Painting Beppu Contemporary Art Biennale 30-Mar-2009
The Beppu (Japan) Biennale of Contemporary Art 2010 will take place Jan. 24 - Feb.23, 2010 at the Beppu Art Museum.
Artists are invited to submit paintings (1 work per artist) which have not been displayed in any previous competitions.
The minimum size of the work should be 91cm x 91cm, and the maximum size should be 162cm x 162cm. The total weight, including the frame, should not exceed 30kg.
Please note: The 2nd Screening involves the examination of Actual Works (shipping at the roganisers' expense, although return expenses of unsold works are at the artist's expense).
Art - Fine Arts - Painting Polish Art Foundation Drawing Biennale 30-Mar-2009
The Polish Art Foundation is inviting artists to submit works to its' 2009 International Drawing Competition Biennale, to take place in Melbourne, Australia, September 2009.
Any drawing created in the last two years, regardless of the technique/materials used, can be submitted, provided it has not been shown at any previous competitions.
Size of submitted work must be within the following range: Minimum - A5, maximum 51cm x 71cm.
Any artist may submit a maximum of 3 works.

Screen Based Art - V-Art/V-Dance Videoholica Video Art Festival 30-Mar-2009
Videoholica International Video Art Festival will take place in gallery spaces as well as in outdoor public spaces across Varna, Bulgaria, August 7-17, 2009.
VIDEOHOLICA 2009 will pass under the PEKING DUCK OR VIDEO IN TIME OF CRISIS motto.
Each artist can apply with maximum 3 videos, with viewing of up to 7 minutes.

The editors of NATURE’S BEST PHOTOGRAPHY magazine (based in Reston, Virginia) invite all photographers to enter the 2009 NATURE’S BEST PHOTOGRAPHY WINDLAND SMITH RICE INTERNATIONAL AWARDS competition.
Competition categories are: ANIMAL ANTICS (Wildlife in humorous or surprising situations), ART IN NATURE (Naturally occurring artistic compositions in nature), BIRDS (Wild birds in native habitats), CAMERA CLUB (a group entry by a camera club), CREATIVE DIGITAL (Any nature-related image or combination of images that is created and/or manipulated using digital/electronic technology), ENDANGERED SPECIES, ENVIRONMENTAL ISSUES, INDIGENOUS CULTURES, LANDSCAPE, OCEANS, PEOPLE IN NATURE, PLANT LIFE, SMALL WORLD SPECTACULARS (taken with macro lenses), WEATHER, WILDLIFE, and ZOOS & AQUARIUMS.
The winning photographs will be published in the Awards 2009 Collector’s Edition of NATURE’S BEST PHOTOGRAPHY, and may be selected for an exhibition at the Smithsonian Institution’s National Museum of Natural History in Washington, DC.
Art ArtCorps Placments in Central America 30-Mar-2009
ArtCorps organisation for the advancement of social change (based in Beverly, Massachusetts) is calling actors, painters, musicians, sculptors, dancers and all types of creative artists to join ArtCorps and volunteer your creative talents to strengthen sustainable development in Central America in 2010.
Through community arts projects, artists educate and inspire people to participate actively in improving the environmental, health, and social conditions in communities in Guatemala, El Salvador and Honduras.
All placements begin in January of 2010 and end in December 2010.
Applicants must be able to communicate fluently in Spanish.
Full applications will be accepted in 3 rounds: May 1, May 29 and June 26, 2009. To apply, you mast first fill the online form, then (if you meet basic requirements) receive the full information and send in your application before the deadline.
Please note: Participating artists must raise another $2,500 USD to cover (their own additional) various costs (the $1,000 personal stipend may partly cover the amount).

The Magnum Foundation and the Inge Morath Foundation (based in New York, NY) announce the sixth annual Inge Morath Award, awarded to a female documentary photographer under the age of 30, to support the completion of a long-term project.
Submission materials include 40 - 60 images n CD (no prints required).
Art LACDA 2009 "TOP 40" Juried Exhibition 30-Mar-2009
Los Angeles Center for Digital Art calls for artists to enter the "Top 40" juried competition featuring digital art and photography.
Forty winners will be selected. The selected winners receive one print up to 24x36 on museum quality paper to be shown in an international group exhibition in LACDA's gallery and in California Museum of Photography (in Riverside).
LACDA Exhibition dates: May 14-June 6, 2009.
California Museum of Photography (CMP) exhibition dates: July 2-August 22, 2009.
Art - Fine Arts - Sculpture Sculpture by the Sea, Bondi 2009 29-Mar-2009
Artists are invited to submit entries for pre-selection in the thirteenth annual Sculpture by the Sea to be staged along the coastal walk from Bondi to Tamarama in Sydney, Australia from 29 October – 15 November, 2009.
All types, forms and sizes of sculpture in all materials are eligible for entry.
Sites are available along the coastal walk from Tamarama Park to the steps at the end of Notts Avenue, including Tamarama Beach and Café; rock platforms; garden beds; cliff tops; the park areas at Tamarama and Marks Park; and the sea.
Special encouragement will be given to proposals for ephemeral and site specific works.
Material Sponsorship is available for selected artists who wish to use aluminium, plasma or oxycut sheet metal and scrap metal.
Each artist may submit up to 3 works.
Art 'Proud to be different' Residency 29-Mar-2009
“Proud to be different” is an initiative of 'Art Shape' and GARAS, working together to improve the lives of refugees and asylum seekers in the Gloucester county (UK).
By sharing their experiences through the arts, refugees and asylum seekers will hopefully build their confidence and eventually integrate into the community.
The program calls for 2 artists' roles (both for May-October 2009):
ARTIST TRAINERS (to work with participants in a 12 week training programme to develop their own creative skills and learn how to deliver an introductory workshop in school/community setting). For this program, ptbd are looking for experienced artists with particular emphasis on collaborative working practices, consultation, equal opportunities and access issues.
ARTIST IN RESIDENCE (to work with participants over a 6 month period to tell their story and create oral history archive). For this program, ptbd are looking for an inspirational artist experienced in leading participatory activities and in using digital media.
CREATIVE ACTION RESEARCH PROJECT (to conduct over 4 to 5 weeks an action research while working creatively with disabled and able bodied participants from ethnic minorities of Gloucester).
The posts holders will be expected to travel throughout Gloucester.
Please note: Interviews will be held in Gloucester, Tuesday May 5th.
Art - Fine Arts - Sculpture Andalucian Marble School: Stone Sculpture Symposium 29-Mar-2009
The Andalucian Marble School announces the 8th Sculpture Symposium in stone, to be held on 27th of May until 10th of June, 2009 in Fines, Spain.
This year the chosen topic is the route of the Cultural Past from Spanish Southeastern, from Prehistory to the present time.
Submitted models must not have been awarded in any other event.
White marble from the area (Macael Marble) will be the provided (170*80*80 block per artist).
The projects will be conceived in vertical position because of the place where the works will be situated.

Design - fashion/jewelry Arts of Fashion (students) competition 29-Mar-2009
The Arts of Fashion Foundation (based in San Francisco, California) is again holding the Arts of Fashion competition open to students studying Fashion and Design during the academic year 2008-2009.
Candidates cannot be professionally employed in the fashion industry at the time of the submission.
Sumissions are accepted in 2 categories, under the theme 'Illusion': Accessories and Fashion (men's/ women's/ mixed).
No jewelry will be accepted.
Designers who are selected to the second round will need to provide a construction of 2 outfits or 2 accessories from their selected project by October 9, 2009.
The Arts of Fashion Symposium (MasterClass-series, Debut-series, Conferences, Jury session, Movies and Fashion Shows) will be held on Oct. 24 - Oct. 28, 2009 in Drexel University's Antoinette Westphal College of Media Arts & Design in Philadelphia PA.

Screen Based Art Film Festival on Clay and Glass 29-Mar-2009
The next edition of the Film Festival on Clay and Glass will be held on the 19th-21st of March 2010 in Montpellier (France).
The materials clay and glass can be threated in a variety of ways : portraits of artists, techniques, traditions, art performances, history of art, ethnology, heritage, architecture… All genres and lenghts of films are accepted.
To be presented « For competition » films must have been produced after 2002, any others shall be included « Out of competition » in the programme.
Design - Graphic Design - Illustration/comics museu da lourinha: Dinosaur Illustration Contest 29-Mar-2009
The Ethnology and Archeology Museum of Lourinha (Portugal) calls for illustrations of dinosaurs and other extinct animals.
The minimum admissible size is 148 x 210 mm (5.83 x 8.27 inches). There is no maximum size.
Preference will be given to Illustrations of Portuguese species and/or Animals depicted as life-like appearance, set in their natural habitat.
Exhibition and announcement of contest winners will be held in the museum.
